We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the GenK mobile application and the Website.

By using the App or the Website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics

  • Adjust
  • RevenueCat (for subscription management)

These services may collect:

  • Device information

  • Crash reports
  • Subscription status

This data is used solely to operate, maintain, and improve the App.

  • Interaction with notifications

Notifications are optional and can be disabled at any time in your device settings.

2The genk.app Website and Cookies

The Website, including its blog, can be browsed without an account. We do not ask for your name or email address on it.

2.1 Audience Measurement (Google Analytics)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and articles are read and how the Website is used. It is loaded only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you decline or make no choice, it is not loaded and no analytics cookie is set.

When it is enabled, Google Analytics may collect:

  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • Clicks on links and buttons in our articles, and quiz answers
  • Approximate location (country, city), derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store
  • Device type, browser and language
  • How you reached the Website (for example a search engine or a link)

Advertising features (Google signals, ad personalization) are turned off. We use these statistics only in aggregate, to improve our content.

2.2 Cookies and Your Choice

  • The _ga and _ga_<ID> cookies (Google Analytics) tell visits apart. They are set only after you accept, and last up to 13 months.
  • Your choice (accept or decline) is saved in your browser’s local storage for 6 months, after which we ask again. No cookie is used for this.

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, Google Analytics stops and its cookies are deleted.

2.3 Retention and Transfers

Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (14 months at most), then deleted. Aggregated statistics, such as the number of views of an article per day, may be kept longer.

Google LLC processes this data on our behalf and may do so in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Google’s standard contractual clauses.

3Artificial Intelligence and Content Generation

GenK uses artificial intelligence to generate quizzes and learning content.

AI technologies used may include:

  • Google Gemini AI
  • Apple Foundation Models (on-device)

We do not send personal user information to AI providers.

AI processing focuses on learning content and topic data rather than personal identity.

4Payments and Subscriptions

Depending on where you subscribe, your payment is handled by:

  • Apple’s in-app purchase system, in the iOS App
  • Google Play Billing, in the Android App
  • Paddle, on the web (genk.app and the GenK sign-up pages). Paddle acts as the merchant of record and handles taxes, payment methods and receipts.

We do not store payment information such as credit card numbers. Through RevenueCat, we receive only what we need to manage your subscription, such as the plan, its status and its renewal date.

Apple, Google and Paddle process payment data according to their own privacy policies.

5Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process data based on:

  • Performance of a contract (providing the App)
  • Legitimate interests (improving product experience)
  • User consent (notifications, analytics where required)
  • Your consent, for Google Analytics on the Website

6Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide the App
  • Maintain your learning history
  • Fulfill legal obligations

Analytics and diagnostics data is kept for the retention period of each provider listed in section 1.3 (for Google Analytics on the Website, 14 months at most: see section 2.3).

If you delete your account, associated personal data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe.

7Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw your consent to analytics on the Website at any time (the “Cookies” link)

You can delete your account directly in the App.

You may also request deletion by contacting: hello@genk.app

8Children’s Privacy

GenK is intended for users aged 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no digital system is completely secure.

10International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States or European Union, depending on the services used.

Some of our providers (such as Google, Amplitude and RevenueCat) may process data in the United States. When they do, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
